DECLUTTER
Just as I did last year, this year I'll be recording my makeup empties and what I declutter throughout the year, I feel at the moment that my collection is at a very curated point, but things are always changing and I definitely have gone a bit overboard with some categories. There will be products I declutter throughout the year that won't be on this list because they don't have any monetary value, such as deluxe sample size products or products I have been given that I can't find the value of because they are old or discontinued. The way I calculate the monetary value (for the most part) is by how much it would cost me to buy again. For products that I've bought and had to convert currency I just put whatever I paid for it when I bought it. This means my number isn't completely accurate, but it gives you an idea of how much I've decluttered.
Items that I am decluttering will either be going to friends and family, or I will sell items that are unused or only slightly used, items that have expired will be going in the bin.

ITEMS I'M DECLUTTERING
BASE
- Colourpop No Filter Concealer 'Fair 02' ($7.60) - I am currently panning one of these and it's making me realise how much I don't like this, for a start it's much too light for me, and it's just not as full coverage as my favourite concealer (Tarte Shape Tape). I don't need a backup of a product I don't like so I'm just going to sell this one.
- Mecca Cosmetica Lit From Within Illuminating Primer ($40.00) - This was part of my Mecca birthday gift last year and I just never got around to using it, it's similar to strobe cream but I like strobe cream more so I just never really reached for it. I decided to give this to my mum because she was looking at illuminating drops and I thought she'd use this more than I ever will.
- Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF50+ Sunscreen 30mL ($18.00) - I like this product, it just doesn't really fit in with my routine. I use it very rarely, and I find that it doesn't mix well with the primers I like to use so I'm just better off without it I think. I've given this to my mum because I think she'll get some more use out of it than I ever would.
CHEEKS
- Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Mini 'Opal' ($23.00) - This one came in the holiday mini set and it was the only colour that didn't work for me in the set so I've given it to my mum because I know she'll love it. I'm counting the value as what you'd pay for a Becca mini individually, rather than part of the set because I've split the set now.
- Benefit Majorette Cream to Powder Booster Blush ($51.00) - This price doesn't reflect what I paid for this, but it is what it cost brand new, although it's been discontinued now. I didn't like the colour of this, it wasn't bright enough so it just looked a bit muddy and once it was blended out it just wasn't flattering. Also fairly certain it is expired because it smells like crayons.
- Colourpop Pressed Powder Bronzer 'Private Party' ($11.35) - This is too dark for me and I don't like how strong the shimmer in it is. I don't mind a glowy bronzer, but this is straight up metallic.
- Essence 3D Dewy Look Stick 'Dewy is the New Matte' ($7.15) - This product is literally pointless, it's a clear gloss stick that's meant to be used on top of makeup but it's just a greasy mess and breaks down whatever is underneath it. I don't like how this looks on my skin and I just don't have a use for it in my collection.
- NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator 'Sunbeam' ($14.95) - This is too glittery to use as an illuminating primer and I never reach for liquid highlighters so it's time for this one to go.
- NYX High Definition Blush 'Taupe' ($11.95) - This colour is just too dark and too grey for me to use as a contour product, it just makes my skin look dirty.
EYES
- The Body Shop Colour Crush Single Eyeshadow 'Sunshine Love' ($2.00) - This eyeshadow is so old... I bought it on clearance when this line was being discontinued and I never really used it much I just wanted a mustard yellow eye shadow because at the time I was just getting into makeup and yellow was very on trend and I didn't own any. Anyway, the shadow was pretty chalky and just not very pigmented but I kept it around because I thought I should give it another shot. I decided to move it into a z-palette and to do that I was going to have to depot it, and in the process of depotting the shadow cracked and then fell out of the pan, which turns out wasn't even magnetic. So I went to a whole lot of effort for nothing, but hey one less shadow in my collection.
- Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow 'Team Captain' ($6.30) - There's nothing wrong with this shadow, I just don't like the colour and it's a single I never reach for. I don't know why I bought this in the first place really.
- Colourpop Super Shock Shadow 'Coconut' ($6.30) - I just never reach for my super shock shadows so I'd rather it went to a home where it will get used. This was a stunning metallic blue that I thought I would wear but the occasion never came up.
- Colourpop Super Shock Shadow 'Tea Party' ($6.30) - This has to be nearly three years old, and it is so dry and flakey that I just hate using it. I got some use out of it this year because I put it in a project, but I just hated it every time I touched it. It's very sheer so you have to put it over another colour and then it looks patchy and it doesn't stick to the eye so there's lots of fallout. It's a big mess.
- Colourpop Super Shock Shadow 'White Rabbit' ($6.30) - Again, I never wore this because I always imagined it being more red than it actually was. It was a really deep copper penny colour that just didn't really excite me, and I never reached for it because I kept it in a weird place. It's time for it to go to a better home.
- Essence All About Nudes Eyeshadow Palette ($8.20) - This is just a terrible palette, the shadows are chalky, have no pigment, and literally just fall out of the palette. I've hit pan on two shades in this palette and one has jumped ship so I think I can say I've gotten my money's worth. I just know I'm not going to use this palette ever again because it's so terrible. I'd much rather invest in a good quality neutral palette than keep this one that I won't use because it doesn't work.
- Essence My Must Haves Single Shadow 'Apricotta' ($2.50) - This is a really pretty shimmer, I just never reach for it so it's better that it finds a new home.
- Essence My Must Haves Single Shadow 'Miss Foxy Roxy' ($2.50) - I like this eyeshadow, there's nothing wrong with it, I just never ever reach for it. I don't typically wear dark eye looks and I definitely don't need a dark brown shimmer.
- Essence My Must Haves Single Shadow 'Peach Party' ($2.50) - Again, this is a really nice soft shimmer shadow, I just don't use it.
- Juvia's Place The Festival Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00) - I only really liked a few shades in this palette and knew I wasn't going to reach for it after my One Month One Palette so I decided to give it to a friend who I knew would get much more use out of it. I picked up this palette on sale so I don't feel awful about it leaving my collection, and it's going to a new home anyway.
- Kat Von D Beauty Shade & Light Eye Contour Quad 'Plum' ($30.00) - The colours in this are really pretty, I just never reach for this anymore. I have other purples that I'm always going to reach for first because these are a little too cool toned for me and there just isn't that much that I can do with this quad.
- Morphe Empty Magnetic Palette Medium ($12.00) - I decluttered all the shadows that I was keeping in this palette and needed something to transport those decluttered shadows in so I decided to just give the palette away as well. It's a decent palette but I don't ever reach for single shadows so the less empty palettes I have around that I feel like I have to fill, the better.
- Morphe Standard Individual Eyeshadow 'B.A.M.' ($3.50) - Now that I have the Juvia's Place Zulu palette and the Suva Beauty Block Party palette I really don't need this teal, because the others I have in palettes perform better.
- MAC Pro Longwear Fluidline 'Dip Down' ($35.00) - This eyeliner is way too old and is dried out, I could probably revive it but I don't wear brown liner often enough for me to bother with it, and it is very old so I don't want to risk my eyes by using it any longer. This is something I will back to MAC so it won't be going to waste completely.
- NYX Colour Mascara 'Coral Reef' ($12.95) - I never used this mascara and I held on to it for maybe two years? I wouldn't trust it on my eyes at this point. The colour is too light so it doesn't show up on the lashes and it just transfers on your skin, it's really frustrating. I did use this to do faux freckles once and that was cute, but I didn't like it as a mascara.
- NYX Eyeshadow Base 'White Pearl' ($12.95) - I hate this. I hate the shimmer in it, I hate the consistency. It's just a mess and it's gotta go.
- NYX Vivid Brights 'Vivid Halo' ($14.95) - Just not the right shade of yellow for me, a bit too cool toned so it never suits my looks.
- NYX Vivid Brights 'Vivid Sapphire' ($14.95) - I never reach for this because I don't like the colour, and it doesn't go with the type of makeup I like to wear. If I need a coloured liner I'm much more likely to reach for my liquid lipsticks over this.
- Urban Decay Heavy Metals Glitter Eyeliner 'Glam Rock' ($33.00) - I just didn't really like this glitter, it doesn't photograph well and I feel like it irritated my eyes when I used it. It's just a bit too chunky for to go in the inner corner which is how I like to use my glitters. I'm sure this would be cute on the lid or over a winged liner though. Because this is just flat silver glitter it doesn't really have a cool reflect or anything so I didn't love how it looked on the eyes.
LIPS
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Aquarius' ($7.10) - This one unfortunately expired on me which is a real shame because I did like this colour/finish. I can always repurchase it but I don't know that I want to just yet, we'll see if I really miss it.
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Boys Town' ($6.95) - I just don't think this colour really suited me, it was a bit too grey toned for my skin tone.
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Cami' ($7.80) - Just wasn't a fan of the colour, bit too mature for me.
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Candy Paint' ($6.95) - This was a weird pink toned brown that I didn't know how to use properly, I felt like it never matched my eye look or face makeup or my outfit. It just didn't suit me and I honestly don't know why I even bought it in the first place.
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Lumiere' ($7.80) - This was too purpley-berry for me and I just didn't like the way it looked on my skin tone, but it's a fantastic lipstick.
- Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Ziggie' ($7.10) - This is red toned, not orange like it looks in the marketing photos, and just way too dark for me. It just looks terrible on me.
- Colourpop Lux Lipstick 'Appy' ($8.90) - When I wore this in my lip project I didn't initially decide to declutter this but as time went on I just didn't find myself drawn to this lipstick or the colour. It's a dupe for Rimmel's My Nude (55) that I panned last year, but it's a different finish that I don't like as much, so I'm gonna get rid of it.
- Colourpop Lux Lipstick 'Electric Feel' ($9.90) - This is so sad. I love this lipstick. This colour is so beautiful but this lipstick is broken, and it's been broken since I got it but I was just very careful with it, and then I dropped it on the kitchen floor after trying to melt it back together and leaving it in the fridge. I'm very upset because I think this was my perfect nude and now it's gone. Obviously I'll get another but who knows when because I don't make Colourpop orders often.
- Colourpop Lux Lipstick 'OOUUUU!' ($9.50) - As much as I love peaches, this one was just too yellow toned and it looked weird on me. It pains me to get rid of this, but I'm sure I can find it a much better home.
- Colourpop Lux Lipstick 'Scorpio Moon' ($9.50) - I didn't love this colour, plus it had some air bubbles in it and the colour on the outside and certain parts of the lipstick was different to the rest of the bullet and it was all scraped up. It just looked really gross and I didn't feel right about using it.
- Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip 'Steelo' ($6.75) - This gloss smells like it's expired and that's so upsetting because this was a new gloss when I bought it. I really liked the colour but the smell/taste is just rancid.
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip 'Chalk and Roll' ($9.20) - I didn't actually pay this much for this lipstick because I got it when Colourpop were doing a "buy x amount of lipsticks and get one free" deal in which I managed to snag two free ultra mattes, so I don't feel as bad about giving this one up. I just don't like blue-greys and I don't ever reach for them. I've been moving away from dark colours because I don't think they suit me, and I just don't find the blue tone in this flattering. I really want like a cement grey smokey lipstick, but everything I can find has this blue undertone. Anyway, I just know I won't get any use out of this colour, I think I've worn it a maximum of two times (if that) and I've had it maybe six months so it's time for it to find a new home.
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip 'Gingham' ($9.15) - I just didn't like this colour on me, it was too red and just didn't suit any makeup look I ever did.
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip 'Mama' ($8.20) - I owned this lipstick for about a year and only wore it twice because I don't like the colour, it's just not something I wear. The Colourpop website claims this is a burnt orange, but it's actually a brick red and I am not a red lipstick kinda girl. I also realised this year how much I don't like wearing dark colours on my lips or eyes and so that's another reason I wanted this gone. The colour looked fine on me, but it wasn't something I gravitated towards.
- Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip 'Dopey' ($9.20) - I loved this colour but I just can't stand the ultra satin formula, I don't understand it at all. You can't blot it down because it gets patchy but it doesn't dry down so it will transfer and make a mess and reapplying it is difficult because it's in a liquified form. I just decided it was time for all my ultra satins to go because I hate them.
- Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip 'Echo Park' ($9.20) - Echo Park was just about my perfect pink nude and I was obsessed with the colour but again, I don't like the formula or the finish of these lipsticks, and I've found that they burn my lips which I've never experienced with other liquid lipsticks.
- Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip 'Marshmallow' ($5.30) - Realistically I was never going to wear this colour, but it was cool, it was a very light lavender toned grey. It was a really interesting colour but I just don't think I'd wear it.
- Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip 'Point Zero' ($5.30) - I have this exact colour in my collection of Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipsticks which I prefer the formula of, but if you're wondering this is a dupe for Daddy from the Manny MUA collaboration, it just doesn't dry down matte. But yes, this is going because I don't need two of this grungey grey brown, especially if I don't like the formula of one.
- JD Glow Cosmetics Lip Gloss 'Peach Kiss' ($7.45) - This colour wasn't very flattering for my skin tone and just made me look a bit sick. I don't love pigmented glosses and this is very opaque and pigmented. It's just solid colour, there's no glitter and I just prefer something sheer and glittery when it comes to gloss. I also really don't like the scent of this and find it way too strong.
- JD Glow Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick 'Busty Rusty' ($17.60) - I didn't like the scent of this and I remember it burning my lips once when I wore it so I just never reach for it. It's a pretty colour, but not one I wear often enough to justify keeping it.
- Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick 'Family Jewels' ($28.00) - I can't believe I'm decluttering one of my Jeffree Star lipsticks but I just didn't love the colour enough. I don't really wear dark browns and I need to be real with myself about that so it was time for this to go.
- NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick 'Sandstorm' ($14.95) - I never ever reach for this lipstick because I don't like the shape of the doe-foot and I hate the formula. It looks patchy and I don't like how much it moves around and transfers. The colour is beautiful, but it's just not worth it.
- NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick 'Stone Fox' ($14.95) - I hate this colour, I don't like the blue undertone it has and on top of that I hate the formula, as mentioned above.
- Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick 'Sell Out' ($30.00) - I never wore this because the colour is too similar to my natural lips and I don't like the way it smells or the packaging. The way I stored this is probably the main reason I never reached for it, but that's the fault of the packaging because it's a stupid shape.
NAILS
- Eclipse Nailwear Enamel '135' ($2.50) - I don't love this colour, and this polish is super textured and just a bit of a pain to remove.
- Eclipse Nail Enamel '634' ($2.50) - I really love this colour but the polish doesn't perform well, it's really difficult to remove and it's too sheer to wear on it's own so it's just a pain to use.
- Glossyblossom Nail Lacquer 'Milkybaby Orange' ($2.00) - This polish was a beautiful colour, a warm yellow that reminded me of banana paddlepops. Similar to Apricot Nectar by Kester Black but not as dark. I absolutely love the colour of it but I found the polish to be a bit streaky and it took a while to dry which leads to more smudges and dents. This also smells really strange, like spray paint or fixative which I just find so odd.
- OPI x Hello Kitty Nail Enamel 'Charmmy & Sugar' ($20.00) - I just really don't like this polish, it's too frosty, the glitters are too chunky, and it feels textured on my nails which I can't stand. It's also a real pain to remove and I'm just sick of it.
- OPI Nail Lacquer 'Funny Bunny' ($19.95) - This is just a dodgy white, it's really sheer and takes like 3 coats to be opaque and even then it's not fully opaque. I only ever use this as a base for other sheer polishes and it's bad!! I just don't want to deal with it anymore
- Revlon Nail Enamel 'Passionate' ($13.95) - I really like the Revlon polishes, they last pretty well on my nails but they can dry my nails out a bit. The main reason I want to get rid of this one is that I don't like the colour, I really don't like berries and this is just a winey berry colour that I think is just too mature for me.
- Revlon Nail Enamel 'Stunner' ($13.95) - This was too annoying to remove so I never wanted to wear it, its a clear polish with gold glitter and these weird white lines of what I guess is matte glitter? It never looked even on the nails and I just wasn't a fan.
- Revlon Nail Enamel 'Urban' ($13.95) - I just don't like how dark polishes look on me so even though this navy was really cool, it just didn't fit my style.
- Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish 'Go Wild-er-ness' ($5.95) - This colour was too cool toned for me and I just didn't love it, I prefer my lavenders to be more warm because it just compliments my skin tone better.
- Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish 'Instyle Coral' ($5.95) - This was too neon for me and I just didn't like how the colour looked on me.
- Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish 'Port-A-Loo-Blue' ($5.95) - I was really drawn to this colour when I saw it in store and I thought it looked really nice with the hot pinks and some of the purples I'd also picked up but on the nails I realised that the colour just doesn't suit me at all. I can't describe what about it I don't like, but I just don't think the colour looked good on me. It also stained my nails and skin horrendously.
- Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat 'Ink Splatter' ($9.95) - I like the effect of this but only over orange nail polish because I feel like that's a cute halloween manicure, but for the rest of the year I don't touch this polish because it's not the most wearable look for everyday.
- Sinful Colors Nail Polish 'Folly' ($4.95) - First of all, I hate the name of this polish, and secondly, the colour was too dark for me. This looks like a beautiful hot pink in the bottle but on my nails it pulls very red, like a raspberry colour, and I'm really not into that. I have a Sally Hansen polish that is a similar colour but a little lighter and more cool toned, and I prefer it much more than this.
- W7 Nail Polish 'Lilac Haze' ($2.99) - I never reach for this because I have other purples that are really similar, so I gave this to my brother.
- W7 Nail Polish 'Neon Days' ($2.99) - This just isn't what I wanted it to be. It's sheer, smudges really easily, and looks more yellow than green on the nail. If this was more opaque it would be great, but because it's not it's just frustrating to use. I considered mixing this with a white polish to see if that would help but it seemed a bit too risky so I'd rather just give it away.
- W7 Nail Polish 'Orange Sorbet' ($2.99) - I just have other oranges in my collection that I like more than this.
