Lookbook: July

LOOKBOOK
JULY 2019

July has been a bit of a slow month for me wearing makeup because I got really sick for about two weeks which sucked. Once I got better I wanted to play with the new things I'd bought but I just had so little energy!!! I did create some looks I really loved this month, but the start of the month wasn't great for me.

JULY 6TH
NYX Studio Perfect Photoloving Primer
Smashbox Photofinish Primerizer
Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation in 0 Cool Rosy
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Loose Setting Powder
Revlon Bronzer in 035 Sun
Juvia's Place Saharan Blush Palette Volume 2
NYX Love You So Mochi Highlighting Palette in Arcade Glam
Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette
NYX Epic Ink Liner
Nars Climax Mascara

Ardell 120 Demi Lashes
Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fibre Gel in 5 Deep
Lime Crime Bushy Brow Gel in Clear
Essence Lip Liner in In The Nude
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Watermelon Soda
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+
I just used the shade Full Zip from the Yes, Please! palette all over my lid to create a nice base for my liner, I find that just setting my lids with powder isn't quite enough because my veins and freckles pop through. This foundation/powder combo was not good, I know that the Too Faced powder darkens my foundation but with this foundation it was really bad and I felt orange - it looked fine, but I could tell it was darker than it should've been.

JULY 13TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Ballet Baby
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Cry Baby
Colourpop BFF Mascara
This was my first time using the Jawbreaker palette and I was pretty happy with it, I didn't love the pastel green shade but everything else performed really nicely. The pink did stain my lids which was a bit frustrating. The shades I used for this look were Brain Freeze on the inner 1/3 of my crease, Cute in the middle of my crease, and Sour in the outer corner. On my cut crease I've got Bubblegum blending into Gum Drop with my Stila glitter on top and on the inner corner, I also have Gum Drop on the lower lashline.

JULY 15TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
NYX Epic Ink Liner
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Boots
Colourpop BFF Mascara
This red was a little difficult to work with honestly, but I did set my base - maybe it'd work better over something wet. I really like the Colourpop mascara but it is a little difficult to remove. For this look I used Licorice packed all over my lid, blended into the crease and under my eye, with Fuck to diffuse the edges. I put And What? on my lid to add some shine but it was a little lack lustre.

JULY 19TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Boots
Nars Climax Mascara
Here I used Suck through the crease with Licorice to deepen the outer corner and Fuck to blend out the edges. I used the same shades on the lower lash line as well. On my lid I used Lemon Drop fading into Orange Juice. These shimmers are really beautiful and more metallic than anything I've ever tried from Jeffree Star, I used them completely dry and they look so reflective! None of these shades stained my eyes which I think is crazy considering the pastel pink in the palette did.

JULY 20TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Blue Velvet
NYX Epic Ink Liner
Colourpop BFF Mascara
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Browny Brows
I never do blue looks so this was really fun to do! I love how it turned out, even if it is a bit messy - I just think this would be such a fun look for a party!! From Jawbreaker I used Soaked through my crease and under my eye with Brain Freeze to blend out the edges and Delicious to deepen the outer corner. I was really happy with how the shades performed, I had to pack on Soaked a bit but it was nothing too annoying. On my lid is the shade Drippin' Diamonds from Chocolate Gold - I should have used a glitter glue with this shade or maybe a firmer brush because it got everywhere. I did have some fallout from the blue shades as well so I did frustratingly have to remove my base on my cheek and redo it but I guess it's not that big of a deal, but the silver did continue to get everywhere even once it was on my lid. None of these shades stained my eyes though!

 JULY 21ST
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Juvia's Place Tribe Palette
Colourpop Ooh La La Palette
Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Deception
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Electric Daisy
Nars Climax Mascara
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Browny Brows
I really don't know how I feel about this look. It's not what I wanted it to be. I used Maasai from the Tribe palette through my crease and in my inner corner and I deepened the outer corner with Tutsi (which got covered up anyway). I cut my crease and used Opulent from the Ooh La La palette all over the lid blending into Caddy. Caddy is also on my lower lashline. I didn't want Caddy on the lid, this look was originally a half cut crease and I just couldn't get Opulent to blend into Tutsi so I thought if I added a bit of Caddy on the outer corner it could help. It did not, and I end up having to turn it into a full cut crease but because there was already shadow there I couldn't cut the rest of the crease so I just had to create the shape with shadow and I just think it looks really bad on the outer corner. But anyway! On top of the lid shadows is my Stila glitter which I love, but it did take away how pretty the pink was and the distinction between the pink and the purple.

JULY 22ND
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Lime Crime Venus Palette
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Puppy
Nars Climax Mascara
Ardell Demi Wispies
Essence Get Your Glitter On Loose Glitters in Starchild
I really like this look, Iove this eyeshadow placement and I think it's something I'm going to start doing more often now because it just looks so cool. I used the shade Rebirth from the Venus palette which I thought was going to be more pink but it's definitely a coral, leaning on red. Plus! The star glitters! I love these little guys and will take any excuse to use them.

JULY 23RD
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Bulletproof
Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in I'm Royalty
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Breakfast at Tiffany's
Colourpop BFF Mascara
The Gypsy Shrine Cosmetic Glitter in Amethyst Diamond
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Browny Brows
I'm so happy with how this turned out! I had a vision of this look and I think it turned out just like I wanted it to!! I started by just packing Bulletproof onto my lid and blending out the edges (had to do a bit of layering in some areas) and then I added my liner, Blacquer to tight line and I mixed I'm Royalty and Breakfast at Tiffany's for the waterline. I used a glitter glue for the inner corner and then packed the glitter on (which turned out so pretty I'm so surprised, I thought I'd hate it). I did my mascara and brows before doing the gloss so I could take some photos of the look in it's matte state just in case I ended up hating the gloss or it didn't work. I decantered the gloss just on the back of my hand and applied it using a blending brush (but one that you can also pack with) and this honestly might have ruined the brush but I think it's worth it. The only thing I wish was different would be my skin, I don't like the amount of redness you can see under my eye, but I can live with it.

JULY 24TH
NYX Pore Filler
Smashbox Photofinish Primerizer
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
Kat Von D Mini Shade + Light Contour Duo in Light (Lucid/Sombre)
Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Buttercupcake
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Vanilla Quartz
Colourpop Creme Gel Colour in Puppy
Nars Climax Mascara
Colourpop Precision Brow Pencil in Black 'n Brown
Lime Crime Bushy Brow Gel in Clear
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Flamethrower
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Coconut
This was a practise run for makeup I'm doing for a friend for a festival. I'm pretty happy with the look and confident I could recreate it, but there's a few things I would change. I don't like the way my brows look but hers are different to mine anyway so that was always going to be done differently, I think I'll pick up a NYX micro brow pencil for her because they aren't as pigmented and are easier to work with. I don't think I like the blush on the nose so I won't be doing that again, and I also don't really like Puppy. It's just very dry and a bit difficult to use, it comes off a bit patchy on the eye which is so frustrating. I think for the actual makeup I'll pick up an Inglot liner because I much prefer them. (Reflecting on this later on.... I hate it. I hate the look.)

JULY 26TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop It's My Pleasure Palette
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Piggy Bank
Colourpop BFF Mascara
This was actually an attempt at a halo eye, but the photos don't translate that because they darkened the shimmer. I used Kittenfish in my crease and under my eye, with Fan Fiction to deepen and I also packed it onto the inner and outer corner. Then I deepened everything with Sleeper and put Earthshine on the middle of my lid and inner corner. This was really pretty in person I just wish the photos did it justice.

JULY 27TH
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW10
Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Juvia's Place Tribe Palette
Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Teaspoon
Colourpop BFF Mascara
I really love how this turned out! I don't usually use dark shimmers or do smokey eyes because they make my eyes look small but this was really pretty. I used Tutsi from the Tribe palette in my crease and on my lower lash line and deepened with San, focusing on the outer corner. On the outer corner of my lid (but not the very outer corner) I placed Kuba and blended that into Money Bags from Chocoalte Gold which I put on the rest of my lid. I used Kuba as a transition betweeen San and Money Bags. In the inner corner I used Drippin' Diamonds and I didn't have as much fallout this time so I think it was just the brush I used last time.
