EMPTIES
- John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo 250mL ($15.99) - Still really loving this and will keep buying it, I usually stock up when Priceline have their 40% off haircare sales but you can also find this a bit cheaper at Chemist Warehouse.
- Go To Skincare Face Hero (SAMPLE) - This smelled like raw carrot cake which was extremely off putting, and it just looked like olive oil. The experience of applying this just felt gross. I didn't like the sensation of rubbing oil into my skin, and there wasn't enough oil in the sachet to even apply it to my whole face. It did sink into the skin quickly and I think it might have firmed a bit, but it did leave a greasy residue behind and one of it's biggest claims is that it's non-greasy. I don't think this is something I would try again because I can't tell if it did anything with the minuscule size of this sample, and I didn't have a good time using it either.
- Eve Lom Radiance Face Oil (SAMPLE) - I just don't think face oils are for me. I didn't like the scent of this, although it was no where near as strong as the Go To one, and I liked the texture of this one better, it felt thinner and was easier to apply. It did leave a really greasy residue on my skin which I don't love, and of course it left me looking dewy because there's oil residue all over my skin. I'm just not about this.
- Colourpop No Filter Concealer 'Fair 02' ($7.60) - I am so glad that this is gone. I really hated this concealer, it looked gross and dry under my eyes and it accentuated texture, was completely too light, and like the foundation it would lift and go patchy once a brush touched it. I had this issue mainly when setting it with powder. As an eyeshadow base this worked fine, at times I had issues with it smudging and moving around once I went in to blend shadows in my crease, but this was pretty rare. I'm not going to repurchase this because it was honestly a chore to use, can't wait to use a good concealer regularly from now on.
- Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder 'Translucent' ($11.95) - I don't really have any strong feelings about this powder, it's just a powder. It definitely mattifies but not as much as my Too Faced Peach Perfect powder. I like that it's pressed because it's convenient and I can keep it in my touch up bag, but the packaging is terrible, the lid just pops off and the powder crumbles once you have pan so it can get very messy. I do have a back up of this powder that I will use, but I don't know if it's something I'll continue to buy.
- Neutrogena Makeup Remover Night Calming Cleansing Towelettes 25 Pack ($7.99) - This pack seemed dryer than the others that I've used? I don't know if something has changed or if this was just a bad pack but because they were that little bit more dry than what I'm used to I did get a bit irritated using them, especially around my eyes. I still have a back up packet to use of these and then I might change to something else but I'm not sure yet.
- Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum (SAMPLE) - This was a really generous sample size (3g!) so in theory you could use this over multiple days to really get a feel for it, I only used it once because I didn't have a container to put the serum in but I just used the rest on my body and it was fine. I've been wanting to try a vitamin C serum for a while now and I liked this, it smelled good, the texture wasn't bad, it absorbed into my skin nicely (took a while but it didn't really bother me, had a slight greasy feeling while it absorbed), and I didn't have a negative reaction - I got a little redness but I don't know if this is what caused it or not. My skin felt softer after I used this and it definitely helped with dryness too. I would try this again for sure, or at least I'd try other vitamin C serums.
- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara 4.8g ($18.00) - This mascara is still good, it's not dry and it's not irritating my eyes, but I opened this in February so it just has to go. I love this mascara, it just makes my lashes look so good. I've never tried anything that gives me as much length and volume as this does, it's so so good. The only downsides are the price and the flaking, but I didn't have that much of an issue with flaking with this tube. I wouldn't buy the full size of this because I can get three months use out of the mini anyway, but I will keep repurchasing this mascara for sure.
- Frank Body Peppermint Coffee Scrub 20g (SAMPLE) - This was a little deluxe sample I won in a game at Meccaland and I was pretty excited to try it! I've bought Frank Body scrubs before but always as gifts, I'd never actually tried one myself. I liked the scrub, it wasn't too abrasive and left my skin feeling really soft but a little bit greasy. I didn't like the packaging at all, this was so messy. It comes in a sachet that you can't reseal so I had to use the whole scrub and it just got everywhere, up the walls, all over the floor (wouldn't go down the drain)!! It was just a disaster using this in the shower, which is weird because they advertise it as an in-shower scrub. I think if this was in a pot it would be much easier to use, and that way you could recycle the packaging too. The other thing I didn't like was the scent, because the majority of the scrub is coffee grounds it smells like old coffee grounds, and sometimes there's a hint of peppermint. I just don't really think it was worth all the effort and mess to use this and would rather just make my own scrubs and keep them in pots or jars.
- Mecca Cosmetica Bright Eyed Hydrogel Eye Mask ($7.00) - I liked these, but they weren't anything special. They weren't quite as hydrating as I would've liked, but they did hydrate my under eyes and left my skin feeling soft. They didn't irritate my skin at all which is great, especially as I have super sensitive under eyes.
