EMPTIES
- MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara (SAMPLE) - Well. I really loved this mascara. It was a really nice natural mascara but it could be built up and it just made my lashes look really long and fluttery - it never got clumpy and I love how it separated my lashes. Didn't flake at all, and didn't irritate my eyes. I can't justify spending over $40 on a mascara, hell even over $25 so I don't think I'll be buying this one anytime soon, but I will absolutely pick up another sample with my next MAC order. This little guy lasted me three maybe four months and I could still use it if I wanted to but I'm worried about irritation at this point and it is getting a little drier so it's time to retire it.
- John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Conditioner 250 mL ($15.99) - I've said this a million times but this is my favourite conditioner because it helps define my curls and hydrates my hair really well. Will continue to repurchase.
- Colourpop No Filter Foundation 'Fair 10' ($16.20) - Wow, I really hated this foundation. It sat weirdly on my skin and would break up on me really quickly which is crazy because I have dry skin. It would just separate really strangely on my skin. Even when freshly applied it just didn't look right, it looked like a mask on top of my skin rather than my skin. It's really disappointing because this was a great colour for me, the foundation just sucks. I noticed that whenever I try to powder my face with a brush the foundation lifts and leaves all these holes that aren't fixable, and even if I do manage to successfully set my face the foundation will lift applying blush/bronzer. This also is not smudge proof at all and tears absolutely destroy it, which is very problematic for me as I have very watery eyes!! If my eyes water even the tiniest bit this foundation just disintegrates. Using this was honestly a chore and I am so glad it's gone. I'm calling it done because I can no longer get a full pump out, and the day I finished it I even had to pour some out of the bottle just to get a full application, but I won't be scraping out whatever is left because I absolutely hate it.
- Too Faced Glitter Glue Eyeshadow Primer (SAMPLE) - I really liked this, it just makes your shimmer shadows pop and look super metallic, and the primer itself doesn't feel heavy or anything on the lid. I'll definitely be buying myself a tube of this once I finish up my other sample! I was able to get two uses out of this sample, as in four eyes worth of primer. You really only need the smallest amount of product so I'm sure the full size will be worth the investment.
- Olive Young Are You The Real Shrek Mask 13g ($2.00) - This was an ordinary sheet mask but it was printed to look like Shrek and even had ears which was pretty cute. I don't think it really helped hydrate my skin at all and after I removed it my skin was really red and my neck was quite itchy so I think there was something in this that caused a hive-like reaction in me, so that's disappointing. I'm glad I didn't save this to use before I had an event because my skin really rejected it. My brother also used a mask from this range and had the same reaction so my advice would be to steer clear of these.
- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask 2.5g (SAMPLE) - I really didn't like the scent of this, it's like strawberry or bubblegum but it doesn't linger and I couldn't taste it but putting it on wasn't pleasant because of the scent. This is definitely a mask and not a lip balm, it's very thick but not too sticky (it is a bit sticky though). It's hydrating, but I found that it wasn't hydrating enough to last me throughout the whole day if I wore it overnight, my lips were still dry and chapped even if I had been using this every night. I don't think this is really worth it because you still have to use a lip balm throughout the day so you might as well just use something like Carmex and wear it during the day and apply it more heavily for overnight.
- Model Rock Lashes Kit Ready #W376 ($6.95) - I liked these lashes but I really ruined them. I decided to trim them because they were a bit too long for my eye so I just cut them into half lashes but then I wasn't really happy with how they were looking so I trimmed down the length of the actual lashes a little bit. Everything was fine, and then I accidentally trimmed the wrong side of the other lash and had to even everything out, so they're not really a flared lash anymore. I really liked the thin band on these though and they were easy to apply and pretty comfortable. I have a whole bunch of these ready to use in my kit and I think I'll continue to buy from Model Rock.
- Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist 80mL ($30.00) - I liked this, but it wasn't anything special. It had a rose scent that was pleasant, but not my favourite, and the spray on this was a bit aggressive and temperamental. This isn't a setting spray I would pick up again, especially for $30, it's not even a 100mL bottle it just feels like a rip off.
