POLISH PICKS
I really can't help myself when it comes to buying new nail polishes so I'm using these posts to track what I actually gravitate towards in an attempt to curb my addiction to buying nail polishes I don't wear. I guess it's sort of like my lip project, but I'm not forcing myself to wear anything and while I'd like to declutter some polishes, I know that I'll do that organically as I try everything out.MARCH
W7 Nail Polish in Neon Days and Eclipse Nailwear Enamel in 634
I know I did lime green last month too, but I wanted to see what it would look like if it had a creme base underneath. I think that the creme polish definitely gave a greener look, whereas the metallic looks quite yellow on its own. The W7 polish was super fast drying, but it was also extremely sheer and wasn't opaque after 3 coats, it might work better over a white base coat so I'll try that out. The metallic is also sheer but over the creme created the illusion of an opaque manicure. I hate how long it take the Eclipse polish to dry because it just kept smudging on me even with being careful. I love the colour so I'm still going to wear these polishes, I just with they performed better.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics in Can't Take the Sky
I like this colour and it's unique to my collection, but I'm not sure if it really suits me. I definitely prefer pastel blues on my nails and this is pretty but it's not my favourite colour to wear. This dried super quickly and was opaque in two coats, it looks beautiful and smooth on the nails but unfortunately it did chip really quickly, not dramatically, but it did start to chip a little bit the same day I painted them. Day two it had chipped horrendously on my index fingers which was really frustrating.
W7 Nail Polish in Lilac Haze
I like this nail polish, the colour was opaque in two coats, looked smooth, and dried fairly quickly. Got three days wear without chipping, but it did wear off the tips of my nails. I really like the way warm purples like this look on me and I even got a few compliments on this colour! I think it doesn't quite translate in photos because in real life it's a bit more pinky whereas it looks really blue in the photo.
Revlon Nail Enamel in Demure and W7 Nail Polish in Neon Days
I like the combination of these colours, and I love how neon the green came out - I used Funny Bunny by OPI as a base for it because on it's own it's ridiculously sheer. Unfortunately the green chipped instantly on one hand, and on the other it smudged really badly after sufficient drying time. The peach also bubbled and got some imprints which is extremely frustrating because I was very careful and allowed plenty of time for drying. One thing I didn't consider with this manicure was that Neon Days is a matte finish whereas Demure has more of a creme finish and has a sheen to it. I think this would've been cuter if the finishes were the same.
Revlon Nail Enamel in Urban
I like this colour and think it's really cool, it's just not for me. I don't like wearing dark polishes because I just don't think they reflect my style, so even though this is a fantastic navy blue, I just don't ever use it. This applies super smoothly and is nearly opaque with one coat but definitely looks better with two, it dries in about ten minutes but I did have some issues with bubbling. Unfortunately this did chip within the first day of wear which is so frustrating. This was super easy to remove and didn't stain my nails at all which is a bonus! I'm just over dark polish at the moment, I used to absolutely love black nail polish but I really don't like it anymore, and I think navy is a cool alternative to a black polish, it's just not my thing.
Sally Hansen x Crayola Insta-Dri Nail Colour in Inchworm
I really love this colour and think it really suits my skin tone, I bought this online so I wasn't quite sure what the colour was going to be like. This is definitely Shrek green, but I like it. I think this is one of the best performing greens I have ever tried. This was fully opaque in two coats and dried very quickly, I did have some bubbling but I think I just put a bit too much on. My one issue with this polish is the shape of the brush, it's a bit too wide and fat for my liking so my application was really messy, especially since I have very narrow nails that I've just cut short.
Sally Hansen Hards As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Colour in Big Teal and Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine in Instyle Coral
I like how both of these polishes perform, they're opaque in two coats, dry quickly, and look smooth on the nail. Big Teal is one of my favourite blue polishes but I'm not in love with Instyle Coral, it's just a bit too neon for me. Neither of these polishes stain my nails or skin which is a plus.
Inglot O2M Breathable Nail Enamel in 670
The Inglot nail polishes are some of my favourites and I definitely think I want to pick up more in the future. This was really easy to apply, super smooth, and dried really quickly. It's almost opaque with one coat but better with two. I like the colour but it's not my favourite purple as it's a bit more cool toned than what I typically like. It is similar to other colours in my collection however.
Sally Hansen x Crayola Insta-Dri Nail Colour in Atomic Orange
First of all, I love the name of this polish - I just think it's so cute and it's very fitting! The colour is almost an electric/neon orange, I feel like in the bottle it looks really yellow toned but it's more red toned on my nails (doesn't really translate in the photo). This polish is really nice and opaque, you could almost get away with just one coat. It also dries reasonably fast and applies smoothly, my only issue is that the brush picks up a bit too much product so you end up putting too much on the nail. Other than that, I really like this!
