Crab Kid: Project Lip Products: Round 1

This update is a little early because I managed to use all ten products, plus six additional products and finished off my focus lipstick for November (Button by Colourpop). So rather than keep adding on bonus products, I thought I should just start my next round a bit early! The products I have selected for next round will be at the end of the post.

OCTOBER-NOVEMBER

PRODUCT	USE	THOUGHTS
Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Ultra Satin Lip ‘Dreamy’	Wore October 20th	I didn't like this, I think the colour is a little too red toned for me and didn't find it very flattering. I tried to blot this away because I was eating oily food but was unable to remove all the lipstick so it left patchy splotches of colour on my lips. It wasn't a good look. This was more comfortable than a liquid lipstick, but it's more high maintenance so I don't think it's worth all the struggle.
Urban Decay Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick ‘Uptight’	Wore November 2nd	This colour was much darker than I thought it would be, I expected it to be a good spring time nude but it’s a bit too deep for that. I still like the colour it just wasn’t what I was expecting. I find the Urban Decay comfort mattes pretty drying, and this was no exception. They’re just a bit uncomfortable but they do have a nice matte finish and last well. Oily food does break them down but this didn’t transfer onto my chin while eating.
Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick ‘Melted Fig’	Wore October 16th	I was hating the way my makeup looked until I put this lipstick on, I just love the colour of this. This wore pretty well, it didn’t transfer while I was eating and only wore off a little bit on the inner rim of my bottom lip. I like the applicator on this, but this is just a mini so the applicator on the full size might be a little difficult to work with (but I don’t know). I really enjoyed this and will definitely reach for it more in the future.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick ‘Flamethrower’	Wore October 12th	I wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did! This kind of bright orange scares me but I got quite a few compliments on it throughout the day! I paired this with an Essence lip liner so I wouldn’t screw up my application and it definitely helped. This lasted fairly well and only started to wear off after eating (some did transfer onto my chin but that’s pretty typical). I applied a second layer on top of the first to touch up any spots and it did look a little dry, but no drier than a liquid lipstick ever does. I really ended up loving this colour and can’t wait to wear it again!
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick ‘Dynamic’	Wore November 6th	This colour just doesn't look right on me, it's not quite pink enough and a bit too nude and I just don't find it flattering. I think this lipstick ages me, the colour is just a bit mature for the kind of makeup I tend to wear. It's a similar colour to Dreamy, and I just wish this was more of a hot pink than this weird terracotta colour. This felt comfortable on the lips and was 'moisturising' (not really but it wasn't drying), but it was a bit thick and the scent has changed so I think this one has expired. It wears like a typical cream lipstick and I just wasn't very impressed with it really.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick ‘Celebrity Skin’	Wore October 19th for a party	On this occasion, Celebrity Skin let me down a bit. It didn’t last through oily food – but it only wore off the waterline of my bottom lip. It just got a bit crumbly throughout the night, but nothing too horrendous. This didn’t transfer onto my chin while eating which was good. If it hadn’t been for the oily food, this would have lasted all night so I’m still happy with it. I really love the colour and the scent of this lipstick, so it’s still going to be one of my go to lipsticks for parties - even if oily food breaks it down.
Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick ‘Bun Bun’	Wore October 5th	This can get a bit drying when wearing it for extended periods and I don’t think the colour looks good on me so I just don’t love this. It lasts alright when eating but is nothing amazing. This is a colour I can reach for on an everyday basis, but it’s not my perfect everyday colour or formula.
Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip ‘PS’	Wore October 27th	I love how comfortable this gloss is, it just feels like a lip balm and isn’t sticky at all. I love PS because it’s got the sheerest tint of colour that makes my lips looks really full. This is the perfect “my lips but better” product. Because it’s a gloss, it obviously doesn’t wear very long, but I don’t mind as it’s easy to reapply and very comfortable.
Colourpop Lux Lipstick ‘Appy’	Wore November 3rd for a party (this is such an awful photo and it doesn't do the lip justice I'm sorry!)	I really liked this, it wears well, is really beautiful and creamy so it's comfortable, and the colour suits me well! It's a cream lipstick so it's always going to wear away a bit and transfer on cups and things, but I find that this wears away nicely and doesn't get patchy throughout eating etc. It looks darker in the photo than it does in real life - it's much more peachy in person. Colourpop claim these are the same formula as the lippie stix and I was a little sceptical of that, but I think it's true - and they're some of my favourites, so I love this too!
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ‘Perla’	Wore October 15th	I love how quickly this dried down, but within ten minutes of applying I could already feel my lips getting dry and chalky. It had this powdery texture on the lips that I don’t typically feel with other liquid lipstick. This didn’t wear well through food, it didn’t transfer, but it completely wore off my bottom lip. I do like the colour/tone of this lipstick (even if it doesn't suit me), but it’s just too drying and doesn’t wear well.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick ‘Redrum’	Wore October 6th for a party	I generally struggle to line my lips with a doe foot applicator and the Jeffree Star doe foots are especially big which makes it even more difficult to get a precise application. I find the minis more difficult to apply than the full size because of the short wand, but the colour does apply smoothly, I’m just not good at getting a precise line. I personally don’t like the way I look in red lipstick, so this isn’t a favourite of mine and I found that it didn’t wear as well as some of my other Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks. I was eating and drinking with this on and while it did last through it all, it did fade in areas and start to get crumbly.
Colourop Crème Lippie Stix ‘Button’	Wore October 3rd (Picture from another day, but a similar look)	I really like Button, but sometimes because it’s so creamy/shiny it can look a bit much on the lips - but when it's blotted it looks beautiful. I don’t think I would repurchase, but I do like it. It wears well, doesn’t slip around too much and get all over my face, and leaves behind a subtle stain. This can dry out my lips and make them a little flakey but that’s nothing a little lip scrub can’t fix.
Essence Lip Liner ‘In The Nude’	Wore October 12th (under Flamethrower) and October 19th (under Celebrity Skin) - shown on it’s own	This is a little drier/stiffer than the lip liner I typically reach for but I really like it. Because it’s not overly creamy I’m able to get a very precise liner and because it’s a pale nude colour it doesn’t alter the colour of the lipstick I put over it. I think it does help with the longevity of my lipstick as well. So, turns out I like this more than I thought I did.
Essence Soft Contouring Lip Liner ‘Lost in Love’	Wore November 7th under Growing Pains (shown on its own)	This felt quite dry when applying and tugged on my lips a bit, but I’m sure if I warmed it up a bit on my hand it would be fine. This colour is perfect to pair with any cool toned nude, and it definitely helped me get a more precise liquid lip application!
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip ‘Growing Pains’	Wore November 7th	This is such a beautiful rosy nude and it didn’t turn too dark when it dried down which was great! It wore well and wasn’t very drying. I found it much easier to apply because I was wearing a lip liner underneath, but I do like how small the doe foot on the Colourpop lip products is because it’s easier to get a precise application with.
Essence Shine Shine Shine Wet Look Lip Gloss ‘Behind the Scenes’	Wore November 8th	This is just a clear gloss, but I really love it. It feels a little thick at first but after it settles you can’t feel this on the lips at all. It isn’t sticky whatsoever, and it gives the most beautiful glossy shine that makes the lips look really plump. This wears well and only really wears away after eating. I like to wear this gloss on its own because it’s so shiny I feel like it’s its own statement, but it would be beautiful over matte lipsticks too.

Items I'm decluttering:

Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Ultra Satin Lip in Dreamy because I didn't like the colour on me, and I didn't appreciate the way it wore.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Perla because it's just not a colour I gravitate towards, and I didn't like the way the product felt on my lips.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Dynamic because I think it has expired.
Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick in Bun Bun, I've used up a decent amount of this lipstick and I really just don't like it so I'd rather give it to someone to finish who will really love it and use it.
