Sample Empties

SAMPLE EMPTIES

FEBRUARY - MAY
Recently I've accumulated quite a few samples and since I can't judge how much they're worth (except for minis I've purchased which will be with regular empties) I thought I'd have a separate list for all the samples I use up! I don't want to get to a point in my collection where I'm overwhelmed by samples that I'll never use so I try to be selective with what I pick and how quickly I use them. So for those reasons I've decided to dedicate more time to the samples I have in my collection, for both skincare and makeup!

  • Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Gel - I'd never tried a gel moisturiser before and wanted to see if it helped with my chronically dry skin. Felt kind of sticky on my skin after soaking in, and I still felt dry in the areas where I get driest. Wouldn't purchase because Clinique aren't cruelty free.
  • Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream - I've been looking for a new eye cream since I discovered I'm allergic to the Mario Badescu one, and unfortunately I got the same burning sensation from this one (guess my eyes are just very sensitive) but only when I applied it, don't want to risk continuous use though. But, again this is not a product I would purchase as it is not cruelty free.
  • Kate Somerville Exfolikate Glow Moisturiser - I didn't love the scent of this, however it did feel really hydrating and made my skin very glowy. Didn't feel the need to reapply moisturiser in the morning as I normally do, really loved this but don't know if I would purchase.
  • NuFace Prep-N-Glow Cleanse + Exfoliate + Hydrate - This was an odd product, it was like a makeup wipe but one side was smooth and the other bumpy, the idea is that you cleanse with the smooth side and exfoliate with the bumpy one. While this seems convenient to have both steps in one, I think the individual sheets make this much more wasteful than a traditional cleanser/exfoliator and it felt really rough on my skin. Don't think it's something I'd try again.
  • Dermologica Active Moist - I really liked the way the moisturiser felt on my skin but hated the scent!! It smelled like children's paint and it made me uncomfortable putting it on my face.
  • Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil - I did not like this. It smelled like almonds and just made my skin look oily, I didn't feel like it sank into my skin and it just felt like I was going to get clogged pores, did feel nice on my lips but I wouldn't purchase the full size just to use for lips. The next day it completely reacted with my under eye skin - it had hardened on top of the skin and when I removed it it tore my skin, leaving my under eye dry, irritated, and rough. Very unhappy.
  • Fresh Rose Face Mask - I don't think this did anything for my skin and the scent was too strong so I wouldn't try these again.
  • Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream - This burnt my under eyes (not as bad as some of the others I've tried however) and smelled like acrylic paint, was too scared to use it on my eye lids or go heavy under the eyes so I used this on my neck as a moisturiser. Wouldn't purchase because of my sensitive under eyes, still looking for the perfect eye cream.
  • Sephora Aloe Vera Moisturising & Refreshing Body Jelly - I liked this, it left my skin a bit sticky but it did soften rough areas and I enjoyed the scent. Don't know if it's something I would purchase because my Aveeno moisturiser works just as well.
  • Dr Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Deep Cream - I really enjoyed this as it made my skin feel really plump and hydrated, didn't notice any irritation (even around the eye area which is new!!) Would consider purchasing in the future because this product is vegan and the line is cruelty free. However it is quite expensive ($105 for 50mL) so it's not a purchase I'm willing to make any time soon.
