November Empties

  EMPTIES

NOVEMBER 2020
  • Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser 177mL ($24.00) - I really don't have any strong feelings about this. It didn't dry my skin out and was really gentle, but I don't think it helped control my oils or help with my acne at all. I didn't really use this as consistently as I should have, but I still used it regularly and didn't notice a difference in my skin.
  • NYX Pore Filler ($21.95) - I didn't really like this, the texture of it was really weird and it made it difficult to apply, and my makeup didn't sit nicely on top of it. It does blur my pores but not any better than the NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer which I prefer, and if I wanted something just for pores I would go with the Maybelline Baby Skin.
  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner 250mL ($15.99) - Again, I've been using this for ages and it works for me so I'll just keep repurchasing it.
  • Maui Moisture Curl Quench Shampoo 385mL ($21.99) - I like this, it's really thick and hydrating and I just like how my hair feels when I use this, but it's too expensive and I'd only buy it again if it was on sale.
  • Beauty Care Co Makeup Remover Pads 200Pk ($2.00) - These are really terrible, they fall apart and don't hold liquid at all. They don't irritate my skin and they're pretty soft, but I end up using so many of them to do the job one of them should've.
  • Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water 400mL ($14.99) - I really liked this, it's great at breaking down eye makeup and gets most of the residue out of my pores so I don't have to do a thorough double cleanse! This bottle lasted me nearly two years and I've already repurchased another one because it's just great.

This was my first time using this eyeshadow palette and I really like it, it was easy to work with, pigmented, and didn't stain my eyes! I started with Wild Cherry through my crease and under my eyes, blending out with Sundae. I then deepened the crease and outer corners with Tart before deepening further with Sprinkles. I packed Sweet onto my lid over glitter glue because I wasn't super impressed with the shimmer shades. I used Princess Cut as my inner corner highlight. I really like this look and would wear it again.

This was a little Frank N. Furter look that I had a lot of fun doing. For my eyes I used the Warrior 2 palette, I started with Shawata all over the lid and gently blended it into the crease but kept it low. Then I took Walzana to blend out Shawata, it was a bit too dark so I mixed it with Zaz and went over what I'd already done. I then took Zaz on it's own to go over all the edges and soften everything. I also ran a little bit of Shawata under my eyes. I used the darkest shade in The Chocolates in my brows because I finished my brow pencil halfway through this look. For my blush I mixed Daura and Kana from Warrior II and placed it right under my eyes to make me look a bit more dead. I think this was probably a mistake and I should have used an actual blush but it still looks okay. For my lips I first took a deep purple shade to line my lips, then filled in the outer corners with a deep red, and added a bright red to the centre before topping it off with the gloss.

Essence Volume Stylist Mascara
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Nathan
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in What's The Stitch
This was my attempt at Janet's look from the Rose Tint My World scene. No matter how much powder I used the face paint would still slip around and transfer so I'm not obsessed with how the paint looks, but it's okay. I used the liquid white base and the green is from the palette but I mixed it with a little black. I used Crocodile Tears on my waterline and my lips are a combo of Nathan and What's The Stitch - Nathan blotted all over, and What's The Stitch concentrated in the centre.

Magenta to finish off my Rocky Horror series! I used my blush as a blush/contour, heavily filled in my brows, and clumped on a lot of mascara because lashes were just not working with me. For highlighter I used the blue/white shade in the NYX palette. For the eyes I started with Phone Home (Alien) in my crease and I kept the shape really round, I blended the edges with O Positive (Blood Sugar). To make sure everything was seamless I used Glucose over the edges and also packed a lot of it under the brow as white is a key part of Magenta's eye makeup. I ran a little bit of Phone Home under my eyes and then packed Moon Rock (Alien) on my lids over glitter glue. I packed Black Hole (Alien) onto my lash line just to make my eye lashes look fuller. For the lips I used a darker red on the outer corners/edges and a lighter red in the centre.

October Empties

  EMPTIES

OCTOBER 2020
  • MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13 ($59.00) - I actually liked this foundation, the colour was a little light and a little too yellow but I could make it work and it was a great foundation for mixing, especially with my Rimmel Match Perfection. I think I would buy this again because it lasted ages and I really liked the way it made my skin look. When I wore this my skin looked healthy and smooth and it wore really well as well!
  • Coloupop Precision Brow Pencil in Black 'n Brown ($6.50) - I liked this but it was a little bit too creamy and easy to move around. It's also very pigmented so it was easy to overdo it, but it was a good colour for me. Brow pencils aren't something I reach for a lot so I don't think I'd buy this again, I'd rather have a brow powder or gel. If I was going to get another pencil I'd probably get the NYX Micro Pencil just because they're easier to find here.
  • Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Browny Brows ($5.00) - I don't know if I really liked this because I kind of feel like this doesn't really do anything. It's not super pigmented and the brush just doesn't disperse enough product for me. The colour was a decent match for me but I just don't think this does enough for me. It didn't hold my brows in place either, so I don't see the point of it really.
  • Mecca Max Power Tool Brush Refresh Mist 150mL ($22.00) - This is my favourite spot cleaner for my brushes because I don't need to use a huge amount of it to get my brushes clean so it lasts me ages. It's got a good sprayer and it's just easy to use.
  • Swisspers Cotton Tops 240 Pk ($3.75) - I use these for literally everything and they're just my favourite cotton tips. I would like to find a more sustainable option but for now, this is what I'm using.
  • Carmex Sugar Plum Moisturising Lip Balm 7.5g ($5.99) - I really liked this scent and Carmex is my favourite lip balm but the packaging for this was really annoying because the paint would chip off it and get all over the tub, so that wasn't great. I think I'd just rather buy regular Carmex.
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Night Calming 25 Pk ($7.99) - These are usually my favourite wipes but this pack was really dry for some reason? I'm still going to repurchase these but I would like to find something else.
