May Empties

EMPTIES

  • Ela Cosmetics Beauty Sponge ($15.00) - This is just the price of half a pack because I finished one sometime last year too. I really like these sponges! They're the softest I've ever found and they last me a really long time. They do get really stained but I don't mind that since they're just for personal use. These are great for liquids and creams and I just prefer these over anything else I've tried.
  • Venus Secrets Exotic Fruits Lip Balm 4.6g ($8.65) - I really didn't like this, it had a weird texture that was both gritty and slimy, the scent was absolutely disgusting, and it didn't hydrate at all! This only dried my lips out more. I used this because it was a gift but I hated every second of it. Carmex is my preferred lip balm and I'm just going to stick to using it.
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Night Calming Cleansing Towelettes 25 Pack ($8.20) - These are still my favourite wipes but they can irritate my skin. Ideally I'd like to be using a cleansing balm, but these do the trick for now. The price of these has gone up which is really frustrating.
  • Maui Moisture Curl Quench + Coconut Oil Shampoo 385mL ($21.99) - I don't really have any strong feelings about this, I like the texture of this but it's not the easiest product to spread around and I don't think it's really moisturising enough for my hair. I have backups of these that I'll use but I don't think I would buy this again. I do like that you get more product with these than the John Frieda products, and you can access all the product with these too.
  • Bare Minerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer 4.5mL (SAMPLE) - I really liked this, it was smoothing and blurring and my foundation always looked great over this. I don't think I would buy this though because it's really expensive and I feel like it does the same thing as the NYX studio perfect primer, but I did enjoy using it.
Total value of products used up: $53.85

May Lookbook

LOOKBOOK

MAY 2020
I really didn't wear makeup much this month because I haven't been inspired or motivated at all to use it. I also had a massive cold sore pop up that wouldn't go away for about a week and even when my skin was clear all my brushes were dirty and I didn't have the energy to clean them. This means pretty much no progress on my project pan products, so I think I'll save my update for next month.

MAY 4TH

I used the Essence bronzer just through my crease and used the Milk bronzer as my main bronzer and for my faux freckles. The blush I used was the shade Light and I really like it! This is a trash photo but I couldn't get anything better.

MAY 11TH
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C0.5
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent

DUO Lash Adhesive
Kiss Lash Couture Triple Pushup Brassiere Lashes
I like this! It's pretty different to what I normally wear and I don't know if I could wear it out but I do think it's cool. I used Starry Eyed (Blue Moon) as my transition through my crease and under my eye. I brought the shadow out far and high but made sure to not get too close in the inner corner so there was room for the orange. I deepened with Fine China (Blue Moon), then cut my crease and packed Full Zip (Yes, Please!) onto the lid, making sure to blend it with Fine China. I dragged Fine China across the lid a bit in a diagonal line to help elongate my eye. On the inner corner I have Boss (VR Neon) with Deception on top.

I hate this photo but let's ignore that ! My skin looked really great here but the colour of this foundation isn't right for me, it's too light and too yellow. This was my first time using the Fenty cream blush and it was very intense, I had to use quite a bit of powder to diffuse it, it's very pigmented and probably a little dark for my skin tone so I just have to use less next time. I liked this eye look but the darkest matte that I used didn't build at all and would fade away almost instantly, and then my eyes were really badly stained when I removed my makeup. The shades I used were Zoned Out as my transition and under my eyes, Filtered to deepen (the one I had issues with), and Cloud on the lid which I had to spray because it didn't want to stick to my eye - I think it needs glitter glue. I like the way these tones look on me and I wanted a light eye look anyway, the shadows just didn't perform as well as I wanted them to. I think next time I use this palette I'm going to try to work from dark to light and see if that helps at all.

MAY 24TH *BONUS*
Rimmel 60 Second Super Shine Nail Polish in Coral Blush
Rimmel 60 Second Super Shine Nail Polish in Oragasm
I don't really post photos of my nails anymore because I don't do nail art and I mostly wear cremes so I felt like those posts were really boring. This was my first try at a cow print sort of look and I really like them! I think this is really fun for short nails and I love this colour combo. I dotted on the orange spots using the handle of a jewellery making tool I had hanging around because I don't own a dotting tool, but it worked fine. I decided not to put a top coat on this because I find they usually ruin my nail polish so unfortunately this did chip pretty fast. But I would definitely do this again!

MAY 29TH
Bare Minerals Prime Time Foundation Primer
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C0.5
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Celebrated
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Princess Cut
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone
Essence Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder in Sunshine
Dior Pump 'n' Volume HD Mascara
Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip in Champagne Mami
MAC Coconut Fix+
I don't have any pictures of this look because I just couldn't get a good photo but it was basically just my regular base with some bronzer through the crease and a sheer lip gloss. I wore this for work and then put on a lip to go to a party so I ended up wearing it for 12+ hours and it lasted really well! I put on a little more powder after about the 8 hour mark but I didn't really need to. The only product I had an issue with was the concealer, it creases no matter what I do and just looked so terrible all day! I can't wait for it to be finished so I can move onto something else.
