    January Empties

    EMPTIES

    • Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Punch ($6.30) - I love the Colourpop eyeliners, they last on my waterline and the colours are pigmented and bold. They're nice and creamy so they're really easy to put in the waterline, and they don't irritate my eyes. I loved this shade of yellow, it was the perfect warm tone and I got so much use out of it. This one did have a tendency to snap and fall out of the tube, but it wasn't the end of the world.
    • Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask 10mL (SAMPLE)This really isn't anything special if you have dry skin, it's no more hyrdrating than a gel moisturiser. I also find that it balls up and peels off once it's dried down which is really gross. It's way overpriced for what it is, so you're better off just using a thick moisturiser. I did like the scent and it felt nice on the skin, but it wasn't anything I really needed or wanted to use, I honestly forgot about it for months before I finished it up.
    • Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Colour in Big Teal ($6.95) - I didn't like this polish at all, it doesn't last! It smudges, peels, and chips off the nail in a matter of minutes. I literally hated it - it also stained my nails really badly. By the end of the bottle it was getting super thick and gluggy and just wouldn't smooth out/level on the nail - it was a mess. The only thing I liked about this was the colour and how opaque it was, you could get away with one coat if you really wanted. But this isn't a colour I'm dying to have in my collection so I don't think I'll try and replace it. I have other colours from this range that perform much better than this one so I think this is just a dud colour.
    • Maui Moisture Curl Quench + Coconut Oil Shampoo 385mL ($21.99) - I really like the scent of this shampoo, but it's not really a special product. It's really thick which I like, and it doesn't strip my hair at all, but I don't think it's that different to my John Frieda shampoo which is cheaper. I have several backups of this so I'll continue to use it, but I don't know if I'd repurchase it.
    • Voeu Cleansing Facial Wipes Dry & Sensitive Skin 30 Pack ($1.80) - I'm so glad to be rid of these, they're honestly the worst wipes I have ever used. They're dry and don't remove any makeup, all they do is irritate my skin! I'm going back to using Neutrogena wipes for now, but in the future I want to use cleansing balms and oils exclusively.
    • Dettol Liquid Antibacterial Instant Hand Sanitiser Refresh 200mL ($7.50) - I like this, it doesn't have an offensive scent, it evaporates quickly and you only need to use a small amount. It took me ages to get through this bottle and I use it both for my kit and personal use, so I'll definitely keep buying this. This size it good value and I can refill my little bottle with it so I'll continue getting this one.
    • VDL Lumilayer Primer 5mL (SAMPLE) - I didn't really like this, it was like strobe cream but it was too glittery and I couldn't see it through my foundation. It was also really frosty so I wasn't crazy about that either. You can't buy this at Mecca anymore but I wouldn't seek it out anyway because I much prefer strobe cream.
    • Soap & Glory Rushower Dry Shampoo 50mL ($4.00) - I like this because it doesn't leave gross residue in my hair and has a really nice scent that stays with you all day and makes your hair seem a little bit cleaner. I don't know if I would buy this over Batiste dry shampoo in the future because I don't think this does as good of a job at getting rid of oil, however I much prefer the scent of this. I like this little size so it's definitely one I would buy for travelling.
Total value of products used up: $48.55

    January Lookbook

    LOOKBOOK
    JANUARY 2020

This month I really wasn't inspired to play with makeup, and if I did play around and try to create looks I just wasn't happy with them - it's been pretty disheartening.

    JANUARY 1ST
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Juvia's Place The Berries Mini Palette
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Princess Cut
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Puppy
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I really like this look! I used the lightest pink shade as a transition and then deepened my outer corner and crease with the dark matte pink. I also used the dark pink on my lower lash line before deepening the lower lash line with the dark purple matte. I tried to deepen the outer corner/crease with the deep red matte but it wasn't really working for me so I used a little bit of the purple instead. I used the pink/orange duochrome as my lid shade and you can actually see some of the shift in the photo which is cool! I'm really impressed with this little palette, the mattes were soft, pigmented, and blendable, and the only one I had a problem with was the dark red. The shimmer applied really nicely just with a dry brush but I would love to see how it layers over a glitter glue.

    JANUARY 5TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Colourpop Lilac You A Lot Palette
Juvia's Place The Violettes Mini Palette
Juvia's Place The Berries Mini Palette
    Juvia's Place Tribe Palette
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Boots
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I like this look, but it could be better. I used way too many shades (8) to list but I do want to note that I didn't like how the dark purple matte from the Violettes palette worked at all - it was patchy and wouldn't build on itself, faded almost instantly, and just wouldn't adhere to my eye.

    JANUARY 7TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
    Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Arsenic
    Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Bulletproof
    Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Velouria
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in No Offence
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Neffree
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Cry Baby
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I really love this look, I think it turned out really cool - definitely looks like something an egirl would wear but I just love these colours together. I can see myself wearing this again for a night out or something, and I don't usually repeat looks so that's saying something.

    JANUARY 14TH
    VDL Lumilayer Primer
    Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C0.5
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked
Flower Beauty Flower Pots Powder Blush in Peach Primrose
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone
Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow in Wait For It
Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow in Cannonball
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
    Colourpop Lippie Stix in Parker
Essence Shine Shine Shine Wet Look Lip Gloss in Behind the Scenes
    NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
I hated this look and I hate this photo !

    JANUARY 19TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
    Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
Juvia's Place The Berries Mini Palette
    Colourpop Ooh La La Palette
Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow in Cannonball
Suva Beauty Hyrdra Liner in Cherry Bomb
Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Boots
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
For this look I started by using Bubblegum (Jawbreaker) as a transition shade, I focused this in more of a rounded shape - and I'm not sure if that was a good idea, I generally prefer a more winged out shape for my eyeshadow but it's fine I guess. I then took the blush pink shade from The Berries and deepened the crease, I focused the more magenta pink shade in the outer corner and also brought it through the crease to add depth. While building up my colours and blending I used Good Morning (Jawbreaker) to blend away any harsh edges, unfortunately there is still a bit of a line from the dark shades. On my lid I've got Snack blending into Orange Juice, and I used Suck on my lower lash line (all from Jawbreaker), I used Cannonball to deepen the lower lash line too. From Ooh La La, I used Tickled as my inner corner highlight.

    JANUARY 20TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Tranparent
Essence Get Your Glitter On Glitter Primer
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Palette
Kaleidos Makeup Futurism II: Cyber Bronze Palette
    Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette
Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
This look was actually much more red in person but looks super pink in photos which is annoying! For this look I mostly used shades from Blood Sugar, I started with Cherry Soda through my crease and under my eye, I softened the edge of the crease with Prick, then deepened everything with Fresh Meat. Then I took Coma and focused it on the inner and outer thirds of my lid, leaving a gap in the middle of the lid. I also took Coma along my lower lash line. I used Plasma from Cryber Bronze in the centre of my lid layered over glitter glue - I didn't use a glitter glue where I placed it on the inner corner though. I did also use Full Zip from Yes, Please! to soften any harsh edges and perfect my blend.

    JANUARY 22ND
    VDL Lumilayer Primer
    Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C0.5
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked
Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo in Pink Dahlia
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone
    Bare Minerals Lashtopia Mascara
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Lime Crime Velvetines Lip Liner in Cake
    MAC Coconut Fix+
    NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
I wore this same look on the 15th but didn't get a good photo that day. I've been using my cream bronzer to do faux freckles lately + have been really loving how they look, but they're too subtle to show up in photos.

    JANUARY 23RD
    Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
    Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Palette
Kaleidos Makeup Futurism I: Sci-Fi Green Palette
Kaleidos Makeup Futurism II: Cyber Bronze Palette
Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 77
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Deceased
    Bare Minerals Lashtopia Mascara
I'm not sure how I feel about this look, it's much more muted and neutral than what I normally wear. From Androgyny, I've got Military in my crease and Androgyny on my lower lash line. I also have Frosting on my inner corner, mixed with Plasma from Cyber Bronze. I used E.T. from Sci-Fi Green to deepen my crease and I also focused it on the outer corner. On my lid I'm wearing Quantum from Cyber Bronze - I was originally going to use Infared but had already put Androgyny on my lower lash line so I thought this purpley bronze would look better.

    JANUARY 25TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
    Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Arsenic
    Colourpop Blue Moon Palette
    Linda Hallberg Cosmetics Spectral Palette
    Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in No Offence
    NYX Epic Ink Liner
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I started with Arsenic in the inner third of my crease, wrapping around my inner corner to my lower lash line, then I took a mix of Da Ba Dee and Fine China from Blue Moon to focus in the centre of my crease/lower lash line - blending into Arsenic. On the outer corner I've got Occult from Spectral. On my lid (I cut my crease much lower than I normally do here) I'm wearing Bite Me from Jawbreaker with Abstract from Spectral layered on top. I also used Good Morning (Jawbreaker) to soften harsh edges.

    JANUARY 26TH
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Kaleidos Makeup Futurism V: Electro-Turquoise Palette
    Jeffree Star Cosmetics Jawbreaker Palette
    Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Bulletproof
Essence Get Your Glitter On Glitter Primer
    Colourpop Blue Moon Palette
Colourpop Lilac You A Lot Palette
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Breakfast at Tiffany's
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Blue Velvet
I like how this turned out, I was having some trouble with product sticking to that one part of my crease in the outer corner again which was super frustrating - I think I might need to start using a proper eyeshadow base. I've got Forcefield (Electro-Turquoise) in my crease which I deepened with Soaked (Jawbreaker) and Bulletproof - I did the same thing on my lower lash line. I focused Soaked and Bulletproof on the outer corner as well. I used Virgin (Jawbreaker) to soften harsh edges and perfect my blend. I sort of cut my lid with the glitter glue and then packed Billie Jean (Blue Moon) in the centre of the lid, blending into Trainwreck (Lilac You A Lot) on the inner third. My inner corner highlight is Lumi from Blue Moon. I used Blue Velvet on my bottom lashes to create a coloured mascara look but you can't tell because it's drying out so I didn't get much colour payoff - I probably should have used more mascara too so it had more to grip onto.

    JANUARY 29TH
    VDL Lumilayer Primer
    Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13

    Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Palette

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Deceased
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Scandal
    NYX Epic Ink Liner
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
    Model Rock #W376 Lashes
I only used three shades for this look - O Positive (Blood Sugar) as a transition, Androgyny (Androgyny) to deepen - focused on the inner and outer corner of my eye, and Plasma (Cyber Bronze) on the centre of the lid and inner corner. I layered Plasma over glitter glue on the lid but not the inner corner. My waterline is a mixture of Scandal and Deceased and I'm glad the colour ended up matching my eyeshadow so well, but I think black would have also looked cool.

    2020 Project Pan Update #1

    PROJECT PAN UPDATE #1

    FEBRUARY

    Product
    Initial Progress (December 4th)
    Current Progress (January 27th)
    Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
    VDL Lumilayer Primer

    * I did actually finish this on January 29 after taking these photos !
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain
I really didn't use this much because it's too dark for me and I broke the bottle for my lightening drops and had to throw them out - I was mixing this with my MAC foundation but it was my perfect shade already so it seemed pointless
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NW13

Okay so I didn't mark this correctly at all last month because I didn't push the air out of the tube but I have been focusing on this foundation this month and know I've made good progress anyway!
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair

I removed the stopper after I took this photo but instead of coming out it went into the tube and I can't get it out. There's still a decent amount of product in the tube, I'm just going to have to scrape around the stopper
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent

Embossing is almost entirely gone - I've also noticed a little bit of hard pan around the edge of the powder that I need to remove
Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked

I don't know if you can really tell I've made progress, but I can see that it's a different texture because I've worn away the dry top layer and it also seems less full to me. I've been using this as a bronzer and to create faux freckles and I've really been loving it
Flower Beauty Flower Pots Powder Blush in Peach Primrose

This is a terrible photo but I barely touched this blush this month
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone

Table is broken and I can't put in my January progress in the right box so here it is:
Really happy to see the pan has grown! I really want to finish this highlighter
    NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

    Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette

Essence Lip Liner in In The Nude

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Ink Blot

    Colourpop Lippie Stix in Parker

Essence Shine Shine Shine Wet Look Lipgloss in Behind the Scenes

Giorgio Armani Si Eau De Parfum

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Colour in Big Teal

    Finished January 5th
I managed to get three manicures out of this before it was just unusable and the last one I did I actually had to thin the polish out with acetone to be able to even use it. It was super thick and just really hard to apply. That last use I only painted five fingers too so it really was on it's last leg.

As a replacement for the Sally Hansen polish I finished I've decided to roll in my 3INA nail polish in the shade 151. My starting point for it as of January 5th is from the bottom of the line here.

This is my progress as of January 27th.

I've decided not to roll in a new primer and to just focus on the Hourglass one for now. My goal for February is to finish off the Essence gloss, I don't know if the gloss is possible but I'm gonna try! I'm pretty happy with the progress I made this month, I wasn't forcing myself to use these products so it's nice to see progress just from using things organically.
