EMPTIES
As I mentioned in my yearly empties, I'm going to take a different approach this year and do monthly posts rather than just whenever I reach ten products. I'll be including skincare, hair care, and makeup (no deoderant this year), but will only be holding onto makeup for my end of year empties. Hoarding everything just took up too much space so I don't want to do it again this year. I think I'll also include the value of individual products as well as a total value for this year. The value is an approximation, and I go by how much the value would be if I were to repurchase the items at full retail value, not necessarily how much I spent on them.- Lush Intergalactic Bath Bomb ($8.95) - I really liked this bath bomb, the colour was this beautiful deep blue that looked black but when the light hit it it became teal and was full of shimmer, it really looked like the night sky. I can't really say anything about the scent because I mixed this with a bubble bar, but I liked the effect in the water and it felt really nourishing and soothing! Left my skin feeling very soft, didn't leave a sticky feeling on my skin and didn't stain the bath!
- Lush Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar ($8.95) - This was much bubblier than I was expecting, although I don't really know what I was expecting from a product that's marketed for bubble baths. This turned the water a really pretty pink colour and foamed up heaps, I had to keep moving bubbles around to avoid them piling up too high! I really enjoyed using this and look forward to trying out the other bubble bars in my little Lush collection.
- 16 Brand 16 Garden Toks Mask Peppermint Tea ($2) - I really like the 16 Brand masks because they're cheap, but very hydrating - and that's all I want a sheet mask to do really. I like the peppermint one in particular because it's refreshing and as it's been so hot lately this was a lifesaver!
- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Mini 4.8g ($17) - I fell in love with this mascara, it's the most lengthening, volumising mascara I have ever used! Whenever I wear this people ask if I'm wearing false lashes because of how long and full it makes my lashes look. Will definitely be repurchasing in the future, this is my new holy grail and I'm very sad to be retiring it to the empties bin but it's been about 4 months and it has started to irritate my eyes because it's been open too long.
- Neutrogena Makeup Remover Night Calming Cleansing Towelettes 25 Pack ($7.99) - These are still my favourite makeup remover wipes because they actually stay moist enough to remove a full face of makeup so I don't have to really rub at my skin which means my skin isn't being irritated! These are very gentle and I've never had an issue with them on my sensitive skin. I always stock up on these when they're on sale because I never wanna be without them!
- OXX Morning Buzz Cucumber & Green Tea Extract Sheet Eye Mask ($2) - These really just don't do anything, I much prefer a hydrogel mask for my eyes because they hold more moisture and are more hydrating. These didn't sit well over the eyes and weren't wet enough to actually provide any hydration. Won't be repurchasing.
- Lush Golden Egg Bath Bomb Melt ($8.50) - This was really nice, it felt moisturising on my skin and I liked the glitter and the colour it turned the water. It was a lemony yellow with beautiful gold glitter, unfortunately it did stain my skin a little bit but nothing too bad. I would buy this again but this is an item that is only available around Easter which is a shame.
- Neutrogena Hyrdo Boost Hydrating Hydrogel Mask ($5.99) - I really liked this mask, it was very hydrating and left my skin feeling really plump. There was heaps of serum with this mask so it's definitely worth the money, and I like that it's a hydrogel because it stays on the face better than a traditional sheet mask. Would definitely repurchase.
- Napolean Perdis Nail Polish 'Gold Finch' ($19.00) - I have had this nail polish for a very long time, I know it was a gift but I have no idea who it was from I've had it for that long. I wasn't a huge fan of the colour, it was a bit too dark for what I like in a nude polish, and I didn't see the point to the shimmer in the polish because it's not visible on the nail. This would chip on me fairly quickly, and I found the polish itself was quite tacky so it would smudge easily when drying. Definitely not my favourite nail polish formula and not something I would repurchase.
- Morphe Flawless Beauty Sponge ($11.00) - I didn't like this sponge, it was too firm for me and the shape sucked, it would also bleed colour when I cleaned it, like the dye from the sponge would wash out which concerned me. I also don't think it did a very good job of blending my foundation in, because it was so firm it would lift product from areas it accidentally touched and it was just so frustrating to use. I've been using this for about three months and it's held it's shape really well and isn't missing any chunks or anything, but I think it is starting to grow mould. I noticed some little black spots on it while cleaning it that seem suspicious and I don't want to take the risk of continuing to use it. Besides, 3 months is about the recommended life of a sponge anyway so I suppose it was time for it to go anyway.
- Privia New York Miracle Daily Mask Pack Hyaluronic Acid ($2.50) - This mask didn't fit my face very well but it did stick to my face decently. Did feel hydrating but nothing amazing, don't think I would repurchase this over other sheet masks. This was a traditional sheet mask not a hydrogel and gel masks are definitely my preference especially when it comes to hydrating masks.
- Carmex Classic Moisturising Lip Balm 7.5g ($5.99) - Carmex continues to be my tried and true lip balm, it's just the most effective lip balm I've ever tried. I like how thick this is but it doesn't feel greasy, and it actually heals my lips rather than just drying them out more. Love this and will continue to buy it.
- E.l.f. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder ($9.00) - This powder does the job and I don't really have any issue with it, but it is very tiny and I think I'd just prefer to buy bigger loose powders from here out so I get a better deal for my money.
- Ardell Accent 301 Lashes ($10.99) - I really like these lashes because they lift my eyes and are easy to apply and comfortable because they are half lashes, I would recommend these for people who are just getting into false lashes because these are a great natural option. Would happily repurchase in the future, my only complaint is that the lashes aren't symmetrical and can look uneven on the eyes.
